Hi my name is David Barlow and I am the Wednesdayite Community Director. I was born in Rotherham but have recently moved to the West Yorkshire area of Wakefield.
I have been watching the Owls for 41 years and usually get to ALL Home and Away games. I have even discharged myself 3 times from Hospital to go to games and all were away at Everton,Barnsley and Ipswich.
I also follow the National team again Home and Away and hate it when both Club & Country clash.I can remember watching a home game at S6 until half – time and then shooting over to Old Trafford to watch England KO at 5 o’clock.
I am now settled in the North stand but have previously spent time on both the uncovered kop and South stand. I operate the Wednesdayite car park every home game and usually arrive at my seat just in time for the kick off. I also steward the Wednesdayite Away coach and have responsibility for the BIG Flag at away grounds that allow it’s presence. My other area’s of responsibility are Events and Volunteers.
My day job involves being a partner and consultant with the leading company who run Events at Disneyland Paris. Previously after graduating at Sheffield, I spent 17 years in Care Managment. With this in mind I am particuarly looking forward to working in partnership with the Clubs many area’s of Community Development.
I am now the longest serving Director of Wednesdayite and feel honoured and privaleged to be able to contribute my time in helping the club in so many differant ways.Be it helping the profile of the club as at the 2009 Grass Roots Football LIVE Event at the NEC, consulting on Season Ticket pricing and simply helping stuff comics into gift bags or sweeping the South Stand.
FORWARD TOGETHER it says on the flag. We’re ALL Wednesday, aren’t we ?
Dave
