I have been watching the Owls for over fifty years, having been introduced to Hillsborough by my father and grandfather in the days of Derek Dooley, Albert Quixall and Alan Finney.

In the early years, I had a regular spot on the Kop just behind the goal. I was standing there when the Owls were the first team to beat Spurs in the season that they won the double and the Owls finished as runners up in Division 1. I was there in 1962 when Pele made his first visit to Hillsborough and put a penalty past Ron Springett...

Later on, after a surviving as an exiled owl and then brief spell in the uncovered seats behind the home dug-out, I moved to the North Stand and have held a season ticket there for many years now.

My background is in science and education but when I retired, I wanted to give a bit more back to the club in return for the many years of pleasure it has given to me. Actually perhaps this is not the right way to describe the 1970's experience but those days made the later ones even sweeter. I thought that the best way of putting things back, as a supporter, was by taking on an active role in the fans group Wednesdayite.

I joined the Wednesdayite board in 2006 and, after a few months of general duties, I was asked to serve as vice-chair. I performed this role for two years until Darryl Keys moved to the US in December 2008, when I became Chairman.

During all my time on the Wednesdayite board, my main aim has been to do all I can to develop a positive and productive relationship with the club. There have been setbacks and frustrations but I am now looking forward to seeing what can be achieved when we are working together.
