Darryl Keys

Director

Darryl (aged 46) was born in Sheffield and has supported the Owls all his life...

Professionally he started work with Natwest locally before being transferred to London where he became Head of Banking at a Dutch Bank and then a Director of a Merchant Bank with responsibility for sports finance including player transfers and TV deals with clubs and sporting bodies throughout Europe.

He decided to leave banking around 10 years ago to leading a sports internet business to the AIM market and then becoming an adviser and non-executive Director to a number of businesses. One of these was involved in exhibiting one of the largest Titanic artefact collections in the world.

He served as Chairman of Wednesdayite from 2005 to 2008, stepping down due to relocating abroad to head up a new overseas HQ involved in exciting alternative fuel technology.

He still gets to games on his visits back to the UK and listens to all other matches on Wednesdayworld. His all time favourite player is Terry Curran but David Hirst, Chris Waddle, Roland Nilsson and Paulo di Canio also get a special mention!

Darryl also served as a class 1 football referee and as a Director of the Rugby Football League.

He believes the fans are the club and as a new exile he is keen to find out what our distant fans want and expect from the club and cites the example of Sunderland who have fan club boards in the ground representing their supporters from all over the world. "It would be great to see that at Hillsborough and to designate one match a season as an overseas fans match where we can all come to Hillsborough, see the lads in action, have a great time and extend the SWFC family'.
