It's the Wednesdayite Weekly - the second best thing about Friday (everything else is tied for first) - featuring news, views and the clearly deteriorating mental state of our Vice-Chair

This issue's bulletpoints:

  • Eddie's Rant About The Doom-Sayers
  • Owls Blogs - Can YOU write?
  • Away Coach Update

All this, and a brilliant letter from Nev about The Wednesday Cricket Club

There's no two ways about it - it's been a pretty lousy week for Wednesdayites since your last Weekly hit the virtual doormat. Back-to-back defeats combined with wins for our city rivals leave the Owls' automatic promotion prospects hanging by a thread, and as I write this, tabloid tittle-tattle suggests that Uncle Milan is about to sell up and leave S6 for the unique charms of Scottish football and Glasgow giants Rangers.

But this correspondent is pretty sick to the back teeth of the moodswings amongst Owls fans - some of whom are ludicrously claiming we now won't even make the playoffs and calling for Megson's head. And as for the gloating of our porcine neighbours...well, the only thing I'll say is that there is one club in football who has a track record of snatching failure from the jaws of success, and it's not the team in blue and white stripes.

So let's - as I'm sure Gary Megson and his team are - take stock, wipe the slate clean and get ready to kick on for the final third of the season. A win tomorrow against Dave Allen's Crooked Spireites and then bringing the Blunts back down to earth with a bump at Fortress Hillsborough a week on Sunday and we're right back in the game. And we, the fans, have our part to play - whether it's the East Bank Ultras with their brilliant new banners, every single Wednesday fan singing their hearts out for the lads, or us, champing at the bit to unveil our Derby Day surprise.

Gary Megson's tactics board at the halfway stage said that there was only one team who could beat SWFC - ourselves (well, he said it in more colourful language, but still). We've been doing a decent job of that the last couple of games - but this is where it turns around. UP THE OWLS!

Derby Day is looming and we have a couple of reminders for fans wishing to use our brilliant matchday services on the day.

First of all, the Wednesdayite Lounge is open from 10, with members and accompanied guests only welcome (guests £1 donation).

If you want to take advantage of the delicious matchday breakfast then it requires pre-booking online, costing just £5.50. No sales will be made on the day.

And finally, with the crowd likely to be massive, our Car Park team would remind permit holders to get into the car park early so as to benefit from their priority spaces.

Our blogs are amongst the most popular articles on the Wednesdayite website - all the more impressive when you consider that they're all written by volunteers, only some of whom have had a formal education (of course Lord Hillsborough went to Eton). They're a brilliant reflection of the thoughts and feelings of the Wednesday fanbase and share the highs and lows of following the greatest team the world has ever seen.

But everyone's got their story to tell - so why not type up your saloon bar moanings and get them to Wednesdayite HQ so we can share them with the world? You too could be followed on Twitter by over 6000 crazy Wednesdayites and have your voice heard around Planet SWFC! Get in touch - we welcome your input!

Wednesday had a weekus horribilis as they surrendered a lead at Exeter to lose 2-1 at the weekend, and then blew it at home against Stevenage to go down to a solitary goal. The Owls looked devoid of ideas, with constant direct balls into the box causing few problems for the Stevenage defence, and only the resurgent Jermaine Johnson lighting up the Hillsborough night with some wonderful runs (and a return to his hilarious shooting of old, sadly). With both full-times being met with wins for Sheffield's smaller and smellier club, the Owls sit third, but two points behind United having played two games more. THE WEDNESDAY CRICKET CLUB - SUPPORT THEM (and give them some money if you've got any)

The Wednesday Cricket Club was established to support Cricket in the Sheffield area. They are an all-inclusive club and encourage the participation in cricket regardless of gender, ethnicity or disability. The Wednesday cricket club strives in all it does to act as a role model through our involvement with schools and the community which we serve.

The organic development plan for the club over the next 10 years will focus most strongly on maximising our social impact. Working in tandem with the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programmes on a sensible budget, particularly in the early years, it is our intention to open up socially inclusive facilities, sport and pastimes to schools and groups in the East end of the City.

The 5 Year commercial development plan which will enable the club to be run on a sustainable basis supported by members and sponsors is under way. We have secured sufficient finance from several small sponsors enabling the club to fulfil the first years fixtures at Abbeydale, Sheffield‘s most prestigious ground.

We are offering any level of funding package you would wish to engage in from our one day Tom Marsden Trophy event (One of the worlds oldest sporting trophies) Or a full season through to longer term packages. Exclusivity is negotiable and all packages include multi-colour canvas/plastic banners.
The Tom Marsden Trophy event will include being part of the VIP Mayoral Party.

We at Wednesdayite support what the TWCC are trying to achieve 100% - get in touch with them if you have either time, energy or money to offer! Neville Wright , chair of TWCC is on 0114 230 7044
