WEDNESDAYITE WEEKLY

IMPORTANT NOTICE

AGM POSTPONED

As many of you may have noticed, we have changed our membership system for the 2012/13 season, with membership packs being sent out through a central company and a big change to the format of our membership numbers since last season's memberships expired at the end of last month.

As a result, we feel that many of our members will miss out on their chance to vote in the upcoming AGM and as such feel it is fair and right to postpone the Wednesdayite AGM until Thursday 6th September, by which time members - both new and renewing - will be in possession of their new membership packs and will have their membership numbers to hand.

We will send out a revised Notice of AGM in due course - please could all members take the time to vote and have your say!

Please could all members note that old-style memberships will expire on 31st August 2012 and only those who have purchased the new-style memberships by then will be eligible to vote in the AGM and also benefit from the brilliant Wednesdayite member perks.

There are at least eleven great reasons to join Wednesdayite for this season - membership is only £10, of which £3 immediately goes to SMILE and the SWFC Community Scheme. Please join or renew today by clicking below - thanks for being a member of Wednesdayite!

OWLS BLOGS: WELL WORTH A READ!

FAN BLOGS

Some of our most popular and widely-read articles on the Wednesdayite website are our supporter blogs, where the thoughts, hopes and dreams of Wednesday fans are laid out for the world to read and enjoy.

Joe Crawthorn - one of our newest bloggers, brings his series of blogs 'Kop A Load of This' to Wednesdayite.com and starts off by telling us about his romance for the Wednesday:

"One nugget of advice I will always remember came from my dad’s best friend, on the day we were relegated to League 1 in the 02-03 season, he told me “Joe, I know it’s hard to be an Owl at the moment, but think in years to come, you will have seen the bad times and you will see the good times again, then you can tell your kids that you were there in the hard times and stuck it out to see Hillsborough bounce like in the 80’s”

Meanwhile, Joe Crann concentrates on Wednesday's matches so far in their preseason campaign in 'Let's Get Friendly':

"I know that there’s the endless debate about how much you can read into pre-season games. I know that if you win against ‘lower’ opposition then it’s expected and you should be winning, but if you lose then “It’s just a friendly”.

Finally for this week we have Richard Brook, who brings us a brilliant interview with Wednesday legend (and slightly-less-legendary manager) Chris Turner, in 'Wembley 1991 Lives With Me Forever':

"On that day in the spring of 1991, Turner fulfilled the dreams of football fans everywhere. The nine year old that I was at that time, literally went to bed at night and dreamt of winning a cup at Wembley, playing – in goal – for my team, playing for Wednesday. “It will live with me for the rest of my life”, Turner admits. “What a fantastic day that was. To play, at Wembley, for the team I support. It cannot get any better.”

Get involved and get them read - they're all brilliant ways to spend ten minutes or so thinking about all things SWFC!

MASSIVE ALL SUMMER LONG: DERBY SELLS OUT

With the now-familiar carnage online, on the phones and outside the ticket office at SWFC, the opening game of the season away at Pride Park sold out inside four days - 6,000+ Wednesday fans will be in attendance to roar the lads on to a successful opening to their Championship campaign.

While we're used to huge SWFC away contingents, this is truly taking it to the next level - in fact, there's likely to be more Owls fans away at Derby next Saturday than season ticket holders at home of League One football Bramall Lane.

Mind the gap...

OWLS IN THE PARK A SUCCESS

The rearranged Owls In The Park fun day attracted a huge crowd of over 12,000 to Hillsborough Park, who braved slighty-mixed weather to enjoy Wednesday golden moments on a massive HD screen, a cool fun fair, some fantastic activities from the Owls Community team, and the chance to meet and have pictures taken with Owls heroes - from Gary Madine to chairman himself Milan Mandaric. Well done to everyone at the club for organising such a brilliant and popular day!
