WEDNESDAYITE WEEKLY

WEDNESDAYITE SPONSOR LLERA

BIG MIG

One of our Eleven brilliant reasons to join Wednesdayite this season is a massive Spaniard who has been known to wear a black headguard much more fashionably than Petr Cech.

If there's one man who epitomises the fighting spirit of last season and the pure brilliance of SWFC, it's the Spanish man-mountain himself, Miguel 'No Longer Needs A Skull Cap' Llera.

Wednesdayite are Miguel's official 2012/13 player sponsor and as such we've got a brilliant prize for one of our members. Anyone who joins or renews before the 1st September 2012 will see their name go into the hat skull cap for this exclusive prize - and fear not, there's more to come for members as we will also be offering a signed Llera shirt and match tickets throughout the season!

Even more exciting (if you can imagine anything being more exciting than that), every time Big Mig dominates in the air and pops the ball in the back of the net this season, you'll hear a lovely reminder over the PA that he's sponsored by Wednesdayite - your friendly local supporters' club!

So to join Wednesdayite click on the link below for a chance to be with Miguel at Christmas!

NEW YORK OWLS BECOME SECOND WEDNESDAYITE AFFILIATE!

BIG APPLE WEDS

Following on from the announcement that East Midlands Owls became Wednesdayite's first affiliate member.  We are delighted to announce that the New York Owls are to follow EMO and become their second link up with one of the Sheffield Wednesday community’s regional supporters’ groups which are based around the globe.

The New York Owls have agreed to become an affiliate member of Wednesdayite by agreeing to link up with the society.  NYO founder Paddy Jones said, "We are very excited to become an affiliate member of Wednesdayite. I speak on behalf of all our members when I say that although we live in a different country our hearts are in Sheffield, especially at 10am on Saturday mornings when the games kick off over here! By affiliating with Wednesdayite we are contributing to the great community work they’re doing back home where most of our families still live.

Despite only starting the group in February 2012 we have gone from strength to strength thanks to the massive support of all the Wednesday fans across the world. This relationship with Wednesdayite is a great honour and the next big step on what promises to be an exciting season for both our supporters group and the club.

With TV coverage in League 1 limited last season we cant wait for the new Championship season to kick-off, this league gets far more coverage and we already have 3 games to look forward to in the first 3 months. We’re especially looking forward to October and our dirty West Yorkshire rivals.

We’d like to thank Wednesdayite for this opportunity of affiliation and extend the invitation to Wednesdayites all over the world to come and join us over ‘ere for whenever they’re visiting the Big Apple."

Nigel Short, chair of Wednesdayite, stated "We're absolutely delighted to welcome another new affiliate to the fold - and our first overseas group too!

We are moving more and more towards bringing all of our fans groups together, new and existing, and we welcome enquiries from Wednesday fans all over the UK, and the World, as we work to deliver the best fans group in the world - for the best fans on the planet."

If you currently run a Sheffield Wednesday supporters' group, wherever you are in the world and are interested in becoming a Wednesdayite affiliate member and want to know more about the benefits please contact Wednesdayite Director Rich Davies by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. ANTONIO SIGNING SHAKES THE GLOBE

In a transfer saga that seems to have been running longer than the wait for James Beattie to score another goal ( BARE JOKES, BEATTIE HASN'T SCORED IN A DECADE LOL - Eddie), SWFC finally tied up the permanent signing of last season's undoubted late-season hero, Michail Antonio.

Reaction around Planet SWFC was nothing short of euphoric, as spontaneous parties erupted in the streets and a 40ft high Antonio made of papier maché was paraded on the streets of Rio de Janeiro.

The general message was that there was now nothing that could prevent the Owls from winning the Championship at a canter, setting a record points total in the process.

Wednesday fan Harry Maguire, 19 from Sheffield, was quoted as saying "There's no reason why the Owls can't go unbeaten all season".

MARLON HAREWOOD, GOAL MA....SHAREWOOD

Wednesday's final preseason jaunt was to fellow blue-and-white-stripe-sporters Kilmarnock (they've always been my Dad's second team because of their kit, fact fans! - Eddie), and the Owls put away the Scottish Premier League side 4-1, with a corking hat-trick from triallist Marlon Harewood. Whether this results in the much-travelled Harewood being offered a contract at S6, only Dave Jones knows...but with the Owls looking for a proven hitman at this level, he hasn't done himself any harm by bagging a triple.
