New York Owls Become Wednesdayite Affiliate Member

Following on from the announcement that East Midlands Owls became The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Society, Wednesdayite's first affiliate member.  We are delighted to announce that the New York Owls are to follow EMO and become their second link up with one of the Sheffield Wednesday community’s regional supporters’ groups which are based around the globe.

The New York Owls have agreed to become an affiliate member of Wednesdayite by agreeing to link up with the society.  NYO founder Paddy Jones said “We are very excited to become an affiliate member of Wednesdayite. I speak on behalf of all our members when I say that although we live in a different country our hearts are in Sheffield, especially at 10am on Saturday mornings when the games kick off over here! By affiliating with Wednesdayite we are contributing to the great community work they’re doing back home where most of our families still live.

The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Society, Wednesdayite are delighted to announce that for the 2012-13 season they will be the player sponsor for one of the most popular Owls team members.

We welcome back blog hero Daniel Burkinshaw as we get ready for the new season. Daniel is a season ticket holder on the Kop and attended his first game in April 1981, a 4-1 home victory over Cambridge United.
 
His favourite Wednesday goal is Danny Wilson's against Chelsea in the 1991 semi-final at Hillsborough but after Danny masterminded Steve Simonsen's penalty miss, he's thinking of changing to 'favourite Blunt miss'!

Owls blogger Joe Crann is supplying us with blogs thick and fast at the moment, and with the Owls first competitive game of the season due to be played next Monday, Joe's latest blog for Wednesdayite.com is all League Cup themed.  Joe is based in South Africa and is a journalist for Soccer-Laduma, Africa’s biggest football publication.  He's Sheffield born and bred and moved over to Cape Town, South Africa in 2011.

"So, as you well know our first competitive game is coming up soon when the Mighty Owls will travel to Boundary Park to take on Oldham Athletic in the newly-named Capital One Cup.

He lives with his wife and three Wednesday brain washed children. Like most of his generation Richard’s heroes were Hirst, Waddle and Sheridan, and as goalkeeper himself Kevin Pressman. This time around Richard speak with an Owls hero of '91.
