"Despite nine new signings coming through the door this summer, there was only three on show at the final whistle at Oldham on Monday night (four if you count Michail Antonio).

With the Owls season beginning in ernest this evening at Oldham in the Capital One Cup, Owls blogger Laura Jones kicks off proceedings with her 'School of Sheffield Wednesday' blog.

Laura is an Owl from birth and now writes and tweets about the pleasure and pain of being a football fan as any good sadomasochist would. Laura writes her own blog Yes I Can Explain The Offside Rule where she looks at an autobiographical view of being born and raised a Wednesdayite.

We have yet another blog from regular Owls blogger Joe Crann. Joe takes a look at trialists who have come to Hillsborough during pre-season. Joe is based in South Africa and is a journalist for Soccer-Laduma, Africa’s biggest football publication.  He's Sheffield born and bred and moved over to Cape Town, South Africa in 2011.

"We’re into the final month of madness. At the time of writing there are 21 days left of the current transfer window, three days until Sheffield Wednesday’s first competitive game against Oldham, and eight days before the blue and white hordes descend on Derby County’s Pride Park.
 

New York Owls Become Wednesdayite Affiliate Member

Following on from the announcement that East Midlands Owls became The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Society, Wednesdayite's first affiliate member.  We are delighted to announce that the New York Owls are to follow EMO and become their second link up with one of the Sheffield Wednesday community’s regional supporters’ groups which are based around the globe.

The New York Owls have agreed to become an affiliate member of Wednesdayite by agreeing to link up with the society.  NYO founder Paddy Jones said “We are very excited to become an affiliate member of Wednesdayite. I speak on behalf of all our members when I say that although we live in a different country our hearts are in Sheffield, especially at 10am on Saturday mornings when the games kick off over here! By affiliating with Wednesdayite we are contributing to the great community work they’re doing back home where most of our families still live.

We welcome back blog hero Daniel Burkinshaw as we get ready for the new season. Daniel is a season ticket holder on the Kop and attended his first game in April 1981, a 4-1 home victory over Cambridge United.
 
His favourite Wednesday goal is Danny Wilson's against Chelsea in the 1991 semi-final at Hillsborough but after Danny masterminded Steve Simonsen's penalty miss, he's thinking of changing to 'favourite Blunt miss'!

Dan has been musing on legendary SWFC songs...
