Owls Blog - Steve Chus The Fat - The Turning Point?

Owls BlogOwls Blog

We welcome another new Owls blogger to Wednesdayite.com and to die-hard Wednesday fans this man won't need much introducing.

Steve Chu was the Communications Manager at Sheffield Wednesday from August 2000 to February 2007.  In his first 2 1/2 years at Hillsborough he worked for three chairmen and four managers. During Steve's time at the club, he led the development of the most viewed official club website in the Football League and won a clean sweep of Programme of the Year awards in 2004. Away from football, Steve is best known for his research at Bell Labs in cooling and trapping of atoms with laser light, which won him a share of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1997*. He is now Head of Communications and Administration at South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue.

*information from Wikipedia. May be a different Steve Chu, but all true Owls fans know that the Chumeister is so incredible he would regularly pick up Nobel prizes in ten minute breaks from his work communicating SWFC's message.

Now the Owls are safely promoted to the Championship Owls blogger, Ann Barker, blogs about the conclusion to the season. Ann works in Bradford and has always supported the mighty Owls. She has a commercial pilots licence, two Springer Spaniels who go wild if you say 'Sheffield Wednesday' and she loves Chris Waddle with all her heart.

"One match I will always remember was at Hillsborough in April 2004. I had been living in Japan for the 2 years previously and was really excited to be going back to see the mighty Owls, even though we had dropped into League One.

He also writes regularly about Wednesday whenever he gets the opportunity.

Owls Blog - It's Not Over Yet

Owls BlogOwls Blog
Owls Blogger and Sky Sports fan zone SWFC blogger Carl Mullooly returns to Wednesdayite.com for the final game of the Owls 2011-12 season and looks at what could be a tense day on Saturday.

"If you would have told me 2 weeks ago we would go into the final game of the season favourites for automatic promotion I wouldn’t have believed you. Three things happened shortly after my last blog, which I believe shifted the momentum from red to blue in the steel city.

Owls Blog - A Brave Manager

Owls BlogOwls Blog
We welcome a new blogger to the Wednesdayite fold in the glorious shape of Daniel Burkinshaw. Daniel is a season ticket holder on the Kop and attended his first game in April 1981, a 4-1 home victory over Cambridge United.

His favourite Wednesday goal ever used to be Danny Wilson's against Chelsea in the 1991 semi-final at Hillsborough but after Danny's most recent career move Dan hopes that there will be a good candidate in the Wycombe game next week - preferably early on, to calm the nerves!

Daniel sent us his thoughts about Wednesday supremo Dave Jones - thanks Dan, and read on!

Owls Blog - A Bridge Too Far?

Owls BlogOwls Blog
Owls Blogger and Sky Sports fan zone SWFC blogger Carl Mullooly returns to Wednesdayite.com with his blog for April and talks about the incredible season end in prospect.

"Three games to go in the season and we are reliant on other teams if we want to secure automatic promotion.  It’s a bitter pill to swallow with our neighbours sitting in pole position, but you have to give credit where it is due.  Despite intense pressure from us winning some difficult games, often played before United, they have matched or bettered our results and unfortunately Ched Evans continued his prolific goal scoring form until recent events took over.

"If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too"
