Wednesdayite have a page in the official match day programme and you can read our column there first.

Peter Shaw is the author of these notes and his latest column from the home game V Forest  is published below:-

For today's early KO Wednesdayite are delighted to welcome the supporters of Nottingham Forest, one of Stuart Gray's old clubs. And of course we welcome back Michail Antonio and Matty Fryatt to Hillsborough. We wish both players well for the season, just not today of course. Both sides have made excellent starts to the season and currently Forest sit top of the table. With this being an early KO, if there is a winner today, the winning team is guaranteed to be top of the table, at least until after the other games have finished.

We have enjoyed some fantastic matches over the years, not forgetting the one at the City Ground a few months ago!! We were winning 3-1 before 2 late Forest goals levelled things up.  But 2 games really stick in my mind for different reasons: In early December 1985, at Hillsborough, the teams were drawing 1-1 (courtesy of a Brian Marwood goal) and wave after wave of Forest attacks somehow failed to produce a second goal for the visitors. Then with less than 5 minutes to go, in a rare attack, Mark Chamberlain prodded the ball into an empty net in front of the Kop, to secure the points for Wednesday. It was richly undeserved but a great feeling!!The other match which sticks in my memory is from May 5th. 1990. The Owls needed just a point to secure their safety. The current Forest manager, Stuart Pearce, blasted Forest into the lead from a 20 yard free kick in front of the Kop, David Hirst hit the inside of the post with a long distance low shot but the ball stayed out; it was not our day, we lost 3-0 and the rest is history!
Wednesdayite will be running coaches to the away matches at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, September 13th (KO 3 pm) and Birmingham City on Tuesday, September 16th (KO 7:45 pm). Please visit www.wednesdayite.com for further details.

Our SMILE Ticket scheme is the perfect way to give the gift of a free match at Hillsborough to someone who deserves it. Previous seasons have seen us not only reach out to those who are battling medical conditions and groups of schoolchildren, but also to other Wednesdayites who, for whatever reason, have been unable to attend matches. So we thought - why not make SMILE available to deserving fans across the entire SWFC family? Thanks to generous donations from members and supporters, Wednesdayite can provide match day tickets to people that would not normally be able to attend. Tickets are awarded on a match-by-match basis to qualifying applicants.Do you know someone that you could nominate for a SMILE match day ticket to watch the Owls?
    • A child that has worked extra hard at school to improve their grades?
    • Parents that do everything possible to make family life happy but never get a break themselves?
    • Recently been made redundant?
    • Fighting an illness?
    • Work hard everyday to provide for family and as a result have no spare money for a day out?
There are a number of ways you can nominate someone just by sending your name and number…
