Elections 2012With the Owls soaring back into the Championship, it's an exciting time to be a Wednesdayite! Certainly here at Wednesdayite HQ we've been excitedly planning next season's services, events and how we can make it even better to be a Wednesday fan in the coming year.
We're likely to be bidding goodbye to some of our Directors at this juncture (such are the rules about maximum terms of service etc), and so it's the perfect time to inject Wednesdayite with fresh ideas, fresh energy and hopefully the passion that can build on a truly brilliant 2011/12 season for the Society.
Chris is a journalism graduate (Sheffield Hallam University), 22 years old and a Kop season ticket holder since 2004, but a fan from further back than that. He also runs his own blog beatsandrhymesfc.com where he interviews players past and present but with the different angle of discussing music with them, with some top name interviews on there so far. He also writes regularly about Wednesday whenever he gets the opportunity.
Now the season is over and we gained our ultimate goal of automatic promotion, our regular Owls match previewer and Wednesdayite.com blogger Ricky Charlesworth looks forward to next season and speculates what pre-season may hold for us.
Ricky looks at our current squad list, it's lack of Championship experience and what is required.
We welcome another new Owls blogger to Wednesdayite.com and to die-hard Wednesday fans this man won't need much introducing.
Steve Chu was the Communications Manager at Sheffield Wednesday from August 2000 to February 2007. In his first 2 1/2 years at Hillsborough he worked for three chairmen and four managers. During Steve's time at the club, he led the development of the most viewed official club website in the Football League and won a clean sweep of Programme of the Year awards in 2004. Away from football, Steve is best known for his research at Bell Labs in cooling and trapping of atoms with laser light, which won him a share of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1997*. He is now Head of Communications and Administration at South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue.
*information from Wikipedia. May be a different Steve Chu, but all true Owls fans know that the Chumeister is so incredible he would regularly pick up Nobel prizes in ten minute breaks from his work communicating SWFC's message.
