Press Release from Wednesdayite, The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Society, regards use of the North West Enclosure at Hillsborough Stadium for Owls v Crystal Palace on Sunday 2 May.
We are puzzled and concerned by the decision of the Safety Advisory Group and South Yorkshire Police that Sheffield Wednesday FC are not allowed to open the North West Corner of the Hillsborough Stadium for Sunday's match with Crystal Palace.
The football stars launched the national rally to back the bid by signing their names in light on a 67ft (20m) high flag projected by laser onto Wembley Stadium and ties in with the 'Back The Bid' campaign due to visit Hillsborough on Sunday.
Elections 2010Yes, it is that time again - but for The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters' Society elections happen annually and it's time to start the process of electing the members of the Wednesdayite Board.
As usual, we have directors who have completed their term of office who must therefore stand for re-election if they wish to continue, and we also have other vacancies to fill.
Wednesdayite Honorary President, the Rt Hon David Blunkett, has signed up to zip slide across Hillsborough Stadium to help raise much needed funds for The Children’s Hospital, Sheffield on Sunday 25th April 2010.
David will slide all the way from the back of the kop across the pitch to the Lepping Lane end of the stadium and will be joined by Wednesdayite directors Dave Barlow, Irma Kennedy and Diane Cockayne as well as Owls manager Alan Irvine and Owls Chairman Lee Strafford.
The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters' Society, Wednesdayite are delighted to welcome Owls legends David Hirst and Phil King to the Society as honorary members.
In September, 2009 David and Phil, and ex-Newcastle United star John Beresford took part in our Coast to Coast charity bicycle ride with several Wednesdayite directors and supporters.
