Supporters Trust movement gets national sponsorship boost
A further boost was given to the Supporters' Trust Movement today as Supporters Direct, a government initiative to promote fan involvement in Football Clubs, announced their first major national sponsorship deal.
The sponsorship, provided by Virgin Media - one of the UK's largest entertainment and communications companies, provides Supporters Direct with a committed commercial partner to continue its growth of grassroots involvement in football and other sports. The agreement will help the organisation further develop its training programmes for trusts, publicity campaigns and its annual conference.
The tie-up between the two organisations underlines the benefits of clubs having supporters' trusts and the importance placed on such organisations across the country.

STATEMENT: Wednesdayite and The Shareholders Association meet with potential investor
Representatives of Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Society (Wednesdayite) and the Sheffield Wednesday Shareholders’ Association (SA) met on Monday with Geoff Sheard who heads up one of the two consortia linked with a possible takeover of the football club.
Wednesdayite
’s 10% shareholding, together with those held by members of the SA, could become important if and when either consortium can reach agreement with the three main football club shareholders (ex-chairman Dave Allen, director Geoff Hulley and ex-director Keith Addy) for the acquisition of their combined 30% shareholding.

Bees march to Stockport!
Wednesdayite would like to wish the Brentford Supporters Trust the best of luck on April 26th, when they 'take to the streets' and attempt to complete the mammoth task of walking the 170-mile trip to their last match of the season at Brentford.
'Bees United', raising funds for their Trust and also the Paul Levitt Foundation (an organisation raising money for various Cancer charities), are following up successful walks to both Bournemouth and Hartlepool. The walk to Stockport is significant to Bees United as they mark their belief in fan power with a walk from their own Supporters' Trust-owned club Brentford to the Supporters' Trust-owned Stockport County.
