It is with great sadness that news reached us yesterday that former Sheffield Wednesday legend Mick Prendergast passed away at the age of 59 on 29th April.
As a mark of respect, the Sheffield Wednesday team will be wearing black arm bands for the Owls v Crystal Palace game on Sunday May 2nd.
Mick will be remembered by many fans and Wednesdayite Director, Peter Shaw, pays tribute with his own memories of Mick.

England striker, Peter Crouch, joined 1966 World Cup winner, Geoff Hurst and official sponsors BT at Wembley Stadium on 6th April 2010 to boost the bid to bring the FIFA World CupTM to England in 2018 by inviting people to put their faces on the official supporters’ flag to mark their support.
The football stars launched the national rally to back the bid by signing their names in light on a 67ft (20m) high flag projected by laser onto Wembley Stadium and ties in with the 'Back The Bid' campaign due to visit Hillsborough on Sunday.

It is with great sadness that news reaches us today that former Sheffield Wednesday and Boston United defender/midfielder Paul Shirtliff has passed away at the age of 46 following a battle with Cancer.
Paul played for The Owls in the 80's alongside his brother, Peter, before moving to Frickley Athletic and then Boston United for a then club-record fee of £12,500 in 1988, where he was voted the teams' player of the year in the 88/89 season. He also had experience playing for Northampton Town and Dagenham and Redbridge.

SWFC NewsSheffield Wednesday players Akpo Sodje and Darren Purse have been appointed as ambassadors to The Children's Hospital, Sheffield.
The appointments are the latest in a line of partnerships to raise awareness of The Children's Hospital and it's charity following The Owls gifting the shirt sponsorship space to the facility.

SWFC NewsOn the eve of Sheffield Wednesday's season opener against local side Barnsley at Hillsborough, supporters of both teams are urged to get behind Sheffield's bid to be a World Cup 2018 host city.
Both the Owls and Barnsley will tomorrow be involved in promoting the city's bid to be a host venue - with the emphasis on getting supporters to register their votes towards the bid.
