After 87 years of no activity The Wednesday Cricket Club has re-formed.  Originally The Wednesday Cricket Club was founded in 1820 and soon became one of the pre-eminent cricket clubs in the Sheffield area.  The Wednesday club was the direct forerunner of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club.

The Wednesday Cricket Club has now re-formed thanks to a group of enthusiastic Owls fans, including Wednesdayite member Neville Wright, and have entered a team into the Midweek Alliance League for the forthcoming 2011 summer season and play their first fixture tomorrow (Sunday 1st May).

The fixture is being played at Thorncliffe Cricket Club at Chapletown and starts at 2pm.  The game is open to all and is free to attend and there will be entertainment for all the family including a bar open from midday.

So why not come along and experience a piece of 'The Wednesday's' history covering both Cricket and Football.

Membership of The Wednesday Cricket Club starts from as little as £5, for more details check out their website by clicking here or via email  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
