Owls Season Review - 2010-11Review 2010-11
With the 2010-11 season now down to the last home game against Exeter City to go Owls Blogger, Ricky Charlesworth, takes a look back at the highs and lows, on a month-by-month basis, of an eventful first season back in the third tier.

In the second part of the review Ricky takes us through October and November 2010.

OCTOBER 2010

League Record – Played 5 - 10 PTS

The Owls started October by returning to winning ways, thanks to a 2-0 win away at Notts County. Darren Potter and Marcus Tudgay were the goalscorers at Meadow Lane in what was to be the first of three consecutive league wins.

Leyton Orient (1-0) and Yeovil (2-0) were both put to the sword soon after, to give Wednesday a sound position in the upper echelons of the League. Bournemouth were the next visitors to S6 and they held the Owls 1-1 with Neil Mellor increasing his tally for the campaign, before an away day at Charlton spoiled the Owls attempts to remain unbeaten all month: the Addicks running in 1-0 winners at the Valley.

NOVEMBER 2010

League Record – Played 4 - 9 PTS

A Yorkshire derby at home to Huddersfield opened the month of November. However, the game was not to bring Wednesday any joy and the Terriers ran through 2-0 winners at Hillsborough.

After that setback, Alan Irvine’s men picked up form and results considerably, going on to win six games in succession in all competitions. As far as league form was concerned, wins over Rochdale (2-0), MK Dons (4-1) and Walsall (3-0) ensured another solid month of points attained.

The most startling result of that month was undoubtedly the 4-1 mauling of Milton Keynes, in which Neil Mellor grabbed a hat-trick: his second of the month after previously hitting three in a cup tie against Hartlepool.

December 2010 & January & February 2011 coming your way next...

Ricky.
