CCC Outdoors in Sheffield is backing the first Wednesdayite Coast-to-Coast Charity Bike Ride taking place in September.

The Sheffield-based outdoor retailer on Hill Street off Bramall Lane has donated bicycles to Wednesday football legends David Hirst and Chris Waddle and ex-Newcastle United star John Beresford.

The three legends will be joined by a group of Sheffield Wednesday football fans in a three-day 150 mile trip, coast to coast, from Grange-over-Sands in Cumbria on the west to Filey Bay beginning on Tuesday 22nd September.

This event is lead jointly by Wednesdayite and Sheffield Wednesday Football Club with the support of Sheffield Owls Disabled Association (SODA). The ride aims to raise thousands of pounds for The Children's Hospital , Sheffield, and the SWFC Disability Development Fund.

Peter Shaw for Wednesdayite said,“Thanks to CCC Outdoors for this kind donation of the new bikes. David, Chris and John are taking this very seriously. And being competitive former professional football players they'll want to make sure they do themselves justice on the ride.

“They all have new bikes now, so there's no excuse for them not to put in the road miles training and be fully-fit in time for September 22nd.”

For CCC Outdoors, store manager Stuart Woodhams said, “This is a great example about what outdoor charity events should be all about. A group of people enjoying themselves in the outdoors, setting themselves a challenge and raising money for worthwhile local causes. That's why we're proud to be supporting the Wednesdayite Coast-to-Coast bike ride.”
