Race NightAn inspired performance by veteran full back Phil King helped raise a substantial amount of money for charity on Friday 29th January at Kingy’s Charity Social Evening and Race Night.
The evening was the first social event of 2010 organised by the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Society, Wednesdayite with over 130 people in attendance and Kingy’s one liners had the crowd rolling in the aisles, well some of them did anyway!
The Race Night was arranged as a charity fund raiser with all monies from the evening going to charity and following on from the success of our Coast 2 Coast bike ride in September of last year the money will be split between two charities, raising money for a minibus for the SWFC Community Programme and towards the BBC Kids Scanner Appeal for The Children’s Hospital, Sheffield.
Phil helped raised over £1,200 on the night, one of the grand gestures of the evening was made by Wednesdayite member, Simon Davies. Simon’s table won the last race of the night, which was the auction race, and donated all of the £160 winnings to the charities.
After the success of the evening we will look to make the race night a regular on the Wednesdayite events calendar, so keep your eyes out for the next one in Autumn of this year.
A massive thank you to Kingy for making the trip up from Swindon and to all those who came along on the evening.
