SWFC MeetingAs the news of the investment offer from Club 9 Sports and its rejection by the SWFC Board was breaking, John Gath and Peter Shaw of Wednesdayite met with Lee Strafford and Nick Parker of SWFC.
We had arrived for the meeting, with a bundle of over 300 questions and comments which had been collected from our members over the previous four days using an on-line survey. The questions fitted into five categories: inquest on relegation; the state of the investment search; club finances; the SWFC Board and future plans.
Obviously, the breaking news dominated the meeting from the start and the offer and the implications of its rejection on the finances of the club were discussed. At this stage, we brought up the suggestions which have been coming from a number of individual fans and groups about getting fans involved in investment into the club. Wednesdayite had submitted suggestions in the past for ways which this might be achieved but these had been shelved during the search for external investment.
The investigation of ways of achieving such investment was welcomed and it was suggested that a way should be found to bring all the groups and individuals together to discuss ideas and to appoint representatives to meet with the Lee and Nick. We have already contacted some of the fans who have been putting forward suggestions and offered to help in any way we can with this process.
We did manage to discuss the other questions and comments which our members had raised - the causes and effects of relegation, the need for clarification of the roles of SWFC Board members, and the need for a clear plan for next season, with realistic and achievable targets.
Lee has agreed to join us at a Wednesdayite members meeting on 26 May at 7.30pm in the 1867 Lounge at SWFC when we will be able to discuss the issues further.
