For those of you who don't get the match day programme, The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Society, Wednesdayite will be publishing their programme notes on Wednesdayite.com after each home game.

These notes are from the Owls v Doncaster Rovers game which took place on Tuesday 16th February 2010.

Smile Update
Since our article on our Smile Tickets scheme at the beginning of November, we have been able to help a further 110 young and old Wednesday fans attend matches they otherwise would have missed! These fans have included young patients of Sheffield Children’s Hospital and their families.

The scheme also remains very popular with youngsters from local schools and also those children who are separated from their families through no fault of their own but who value contact with their mums and dads. A trip to a match at Hillsborough has enabled several children and their parents to spend time together.

We have also been fortunate to help adult Wednesdayites whose personal circumstances have changed for the worse through illness. One such fan is Mark. Mark recently wrote to the club asking whether he could help out in a voluntary capacity in return for a reduced or free ticket. The club forwarded his details onto Diane Cockayne - Wednesdayite Director responsible for running the Smile ticket scheme. Diane immediately contacted Mark with the offer of a ticket.

Mark says;
'I have suffered for over a year before I contacted Sheffield Wednesday with terrible pain, insomnia and depression due to me contracting cancer.  I have been told that my situation is terminal and I have to live with the knowledge that I have a year or so to live. I contacted the Owls as I have been a life long fan, attending thousands of matches home and away, being a season ticket holder or just a cash on the day supporter. I've been to Cardiff once and Wembley five times to watch the Owls. I wasn't aware of any such support for me but wrote in hope that my loyalty could be rewarded in some way as I have little money now I am unable to work. I would like to thank the Owls and Wednesdayite with all my fondest wishes for what you have done for me’.

Smile tickets will now enable Mark to attend every remaining home match of this season.

Do you know of anyone who might benefit from the scheme? If so don’t hesitate to contact Diane on 07896 806391. Wednesdayite Smile tickets have enabled nearly 250 fans young and ‘old’ to attend Hillsborough since the start of the season. Help us to help many more.
