Wednesdayite Programme Notes v Watford
Last Updated on Wednesday, 31 March 2010 21:32
For those of you who don't get the match day programme, The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Society, Wednesdayite will be publishing their programme notes on Wednesdayite.com after each home game.
Here are our notes are from the Owls v Watford game which took place on Wednesday 24th March 2010.
Call To Arms
Spencer Taylor, the Corporate and Social Responsibility Manager, is looking to form a coalition involving all supporters groups involved with the Club. Besides groups like Wednesdayite, Sheffield Owls Disabled Association (SODA), Wise Old Owls (WOO), etc, it is hoped that local fan groups as well as ones from further afield such as London Owls, will all consider becoming involved. By doing so we will be able to actively embody the slogan of 'Forward Together' and hopefully we can build a unified and cohesive approach with a 'joined-up' coherent response to all issues affecting SWFC.
If you are already involved in a local Owls fans group or you interested in setting one up and you wish to be part of an 'Owls Coalition', then please get in touch with us.
Getting Involved
Wednesdayite are always looking to encourage their fellow supporters to get involved and support their club in a range of new and old initiatives. We were recently made aware of two supporters with disabilities who would be losing their carers at the end of the season; if you would like to offer your services as a carer on match days, please contact SODA or alternatively contact Wednesdayite and we will endeavour to point you in the right direction. We would like to thank all the fans who have supported us with the Big Flag and the bucket collections in recent months. We are always seeking support from volunteers to assist with a range of issues.
We have been asked to provide volunteers for another charity bucket collection at the next home game on Easter Monday. We may also need some additional help with surfing a special flag at that match too. Please get in touch if you want to get involved and help out with either the buckets or the flag.
Communication
Communication between the Club and fans has improved massively over the last 14 months and it has been so refreshing to be kept informed of what has been happening at S6. However we feel that the 2010/2011 season ticket offers need to be constantly publicised. This is especially important in that the advanced season ticket sales will play a big part in contributing to the budget that Alan Irvine will have at his disposal as he prepares for the new season.
We particularly welcome the news that club have promised a 3 year price freeze on season tickets for any supporter who buys or renews before April 9th. If we achieve the success we are all hoping for under the new manager, then this could prove an excellent deal for us fans.
