For those of you who don't get the match day programme, The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Society, Wednesdayite will be publishing their programme notes on Wednesdayite.com after each home game.

Here are our notes are from the Owls v Bristol City game which took place on Easter Monday 5th April 2010.

Wednesdayite Present Cheque to The Children’s Hospital
Wednesdayite Directors Peter Shaw and Richard Davies along with Owls legend David Hirst presented a cheque for £1000 to Simon Athey, Senior Fundraiser for The Children's Hospital, on the pitch before the Derby match. The money which was donated to the BBC Sheffield Kids Scanner Appeal had been raised during our Coast to Coast bike ride from Grange-Over-Sands to Filey in September 2009 and at Phil King’s charity social evening in January of this year. Both events also raised funds for the SWFC Community Programme.

At the cheque presentation, Simon Athey, said “We are extremely grateful to Wednesdayite members for their continued support over the last season. Ever since we launched our special partnership with the club we have been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of both the club and its supporters for our cause. Thanks to everyone involved in raising this fantastic total and I’m delighted you’re not stopping there , but many of you are joining us for our zip slide challenge in the spring.”

Wednesdayite Director Richard Davies commented: “It was an absolute pleasure raising money for such a worthwhile local charity, which has helped many young children around our region and touched the hearts of so many in undertaking its invaluable work.”

As well as raising funds for the Children's Hospital, the events mentioned above also raised substantial funds for the Sheffield Wednesday community fund and we will be making an announcement about that money raised in the near future.

David Hirst - Honorary Member of Wednesdayite
Following the presentation of the cheque to the Children's Hospital, Peter and Richard took the opportunity to present our own award to David Hirst. In addition to his status as Owls Legend, David has now been made an Honorary Member of Wednesdayite in recognition of his support for our fund raising efforts with his participation as a rider, along with Phil King and John Beresford,  in our Coast to Coast bike ride.

Please Support the Zippers
On Sunday 25th April 2010 Wednesdayite Directors Dave Barlow, Irma Kennedy, Diane Cockayne and Peter Shaw will be zip sliding across Hillsborough Stadium to help raise funds for The Children’s Hospital. They will be joining Owls manager Alan Irvine and many other Owls fans on the zip slide from the back of the Kop over the pitch to the Leppings Lane end.

“This will be a wonderful experience" said Peter. " Not only will we be getting a unique view of the inside of the stadium, we will be helping to raise money for a worthwhile cause that is very close to the hearts of not only Wednesdayites, but everyone in Sheffield”.

Please help our intrepid zippers by adding your donation to the funds they are collecting.
