Smile Tickets Update

Following on from our recent bucket collection and fund raising initiatives we are delighted to announce the sum raised of £2,006.83.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank every single person who has donated to this fantastic cause – and discussions will now be held with the club to maximise the quantity of tickets we can now purchase to redistribute to those deserving fans who apply.

It’s still not too late to make donations to this cause – and obviously soon we will be looking for nominations to receive the tickets – so please feel free to email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. A Vague Memory of a Distant Cup Game

I have pretty vague memories of early matches I attended as a lad – I was started on Wednesdayism at such a young age. To be completely fair – now that I’m getting older my memories of games are pretty vague too – although in recent years that’s probably a good thing!!  One game I do remember took place in the 75/76 season at Hillsborough, our first season in the 3rd Division.  That was the year that we saved ourselves from the embarrassment of 4th Division football in a last ditch home game against Southend in front of over 23,000 at Hillsborough.

My memories however were from a game which attracted a much lower support – a League Cup game in the early stages against Darlington – also at Hillsborough.  I turned up to the ground and was given a kit to change into – this was it I thought – they’d clearly recognised that at 8 years old I was the perfect foil for David Sunley!  Unfortunately – I was to be mascot that evening – and as Sunley was injured I chose Brian Joicey for my picture with a player!

We lost the game 2-0 – I knew they should have started me up front. Let’s hope that tonight’s game is one in which we fare better.

HELP!!

Wednesdayite are looking for volunteers to help with some specific projects we are about to start work on.

As we undertake work on more and more projects we need people of several different skill sets to help us carry out tasks and to develop the offering from the society.  With this in mind we are currently looking for volunteers with specialist expertise in the following area's;

• Community Work
• PR
• Website Design

If you feel that you have the time and your skills may be relevant to any of the three area's above then please get in touch by contacting us through our website or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it   or leave your details on our voicemail at 0845 009 1867.

The deadline for getting in touch for this is Monday 6th September.

The Lounge at the Niagara

Just a few minutes’ walk from Hillsborough at the Niagara Social Club, The Wednesdayite Lounge is the ideal pre-match bar to meet fellow fans for drinks, food and to discuss all things SWFC, has a large screen for those lunchtime fixtures and a real friendly, family feel.  Guests are welcome too.

Opening times are as follows – 3pm kick-offs – opens at 12noon til 2.45pm... Evening games from 6pm till 7.30pm... Openings for midweek Cup games may vary so please check the website for more details at www.wednesdayite.com

Wednesdayite Away Coach

The coach will be taking a break in September for the 2 games to Brentford and Plymouth – the lunchtime Sunday televised game in London clearly not providing the required number of travellers.  Look out for coach prices coming up for Notts County on the 2nd October.  For more details about the service, please contact Wednesdayite Director Jeff Williams on 07961 558564 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
