Wednesdayite Programme Notes v Exeter City
Last Updated on Tuesday, 10 May 2011 22:12
For those of you who don't get the match day programme, The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Society, Wednesdayite publish their programme notes on Wednesdayite.com after each home game
Here are our notes for the Owls' League One game against Exeter City which took place at Hillsborough on Saturday 7th May 2011.
Thanks For Your Support This Season!
Another season ends and we at Wednesdayite can reflect on a hit-and-miss campaign on the pitch but great progress off it. Our popular matchday Lounge, car park and coach services went from strength to strength, and our Twitter and Facebook pages gave Wednesday fans another opportunity to find their voice in supporting the Owls.
Whilst Wednesday were unable to bounce straight back into the Championship this time out, the late-season form under Gary Megson gives us lots to be optimistic about heading into next term – and not just because of the welcome return of the Steel City Derbies!
Wednesdayite would like to give a special thanks to the Owls fans who kept on turning up in huge numbers to cheer the team on, especially through the long, cold winter months when wins were hard to find – not to mention through the dire financial straits in which the club found themselves immediately prior to the arrival of our new Chairman and owner.
Speaking of which, possibly the biggest thank you of the season goes to Mr Mandarić, who saved Wednesday in our hour of need and gave this great club a bright future. Rest assured Mr Chairman that the Wednesday fans will return that faith as we progress both on and off the pitch.
Bring on next season!
Vote for…YOU?
It’s not only Cameron, Clegg, Milliband and the rest who are urging people to get out and vote in the next few weeks and months. Wednesdayite are holding their annual elections and are asking for nominations for interested members to stand for election to the Society Board of Directors.
Our constitution means that any Director who has served three years must stand down and apply for re-election. In addition, any co-opts that joined the Board in the last year automatically stand to be elected, all of which means that of our current twelve-person board, four positions are immediately to be contested. In addition, should the Society receive additional nominations, then all twelve Board seats would be filled by a ballot of members in July, in conjunction with the AGM of the Society, which we will – as usual – combine with a pie and pea supper and some guest speakers.
If you are interested in putting yourself forward for a place on the Board or to nominate another interested party, please email

The successful Wednesdayite car park will be opening its gates for next term! What’s more, season permits for the 2011-2012 season are now available.
Right next to the ground, opposite the famous Wednesday Kop and just a short walk to the away end for away fans, with entrances and exits located on Penistone Road, what could be easier or more ideal, especially for those late arrivals at Hillsborough or on those rainy days?
The cost is £4 for members and £5 for non members per vehicle and both home and away supporters can pay on the day. Staff will be on hand to supervise the parking of your vehicle.
Car Park season permits for 2011/2012 are now available to current full Wednesdayite Members at a cost of only £75.00 per season. This guarantees you a car-park space right opposite the Kop for EVERY HOME GAME of the season (including cup matches).
