THE ENGAGEMENT PANEL
The invitation sent on Sunday to complete the survey was opened by 62% of our members, with 78% of these completing the survey in full, giving us a fair representation of the views of you our members in such a tight timescale,
Question 1 - Do you think Wednesdayite should attend the proposed meeting on Wednesday>
68.1% said we should attend the meeting with 22.9% against us attending and 9% unsure , therefore we have advised the other engagement member of this and that we will be attending, subject to certain pre-conditions the panel has asked of the club.
Question 2 - The view of the EP is that the Agenda should just be to ask Mr Chansiri to leave , do you agree with this stance.
87.7% agreed with this - therefore the panel at an internal meeting last night agreed to a single agenda item:-
To obtain an update on the sale of the club and to obtain confirmation of Mr Chansiri’s intention to leave in the best interest of the club, given he has lost the support of the vast majority of the fan base.
Question 3 - Position on not spending at the club.
We have always stated that our members are free to express their own views and decide what they wish to do form an individual stand point and we still stand by this, the fanbase should not be dictated to by anyone, each individuals position should be respected even if it is different from your own.
Of the four main areas of spend at SWFC :-
- 86.3% are not spending on merchandise
- 83.8% are not spending on food and drink in the stadium
- 64.7% will not be buying home cup tickets
- But on 67.8% will continue to purchase tickets for away games
Question 4 - 100% agreed it is time for Mr Chansiri to go,
Question 5 was an open ended question on form a protest but from reading the many comments and using a word cloud, many would support any legal protest , however quite a few do not want it to affect the players on the pitch or stop the game. Many are happy to boycott or stage walk outs/ sit in's. Quite a few comments did not want to see Wednesdayite leading any of the protest actions as they see us a non-political fan group.
As stated before individual supporters should be free to make their own decisions on protests and actions.
We urge the owner to fulfil his responsibility as steward of the club. When he chose to invest in this great institution 10 years ago, he took on the obligation to improve its standing and infrastructure.
An owner must develop a sustainable business model that aligns with their financial resources. As Mr. Chansiri has repeatedly reminded us, he has had to inject large amounts of capital to keep the club afloat. This reflects a choice—or the shortcomings—of the business model and strategy employed. Other clubs have demonstrated that, through shrewd practices and effective exploitation of commercial opportunities within the football industry, it is possible to reduce reliance on frequent financial intervention from owners. It is apparent that Mr. Chansiri no longer has the resources to support his own strategy. It is not normal for a business to lack the ability to meet its contractual obligations to staff.
We call on Dejphon Chansiri to do the honourable thing as custodian of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club and step aside. We urge him to engage with potential purchasers to determine a fair market value for the club.
We’re all Wednesday, aren’t we!
If any SWFC fan wishes to discuss any of the above we will be in the Niagara lounge from about 6:15 pm this evening,
