Wednesdayite will be helping out this Sunday by providing car park facilities to Speedway fans.

Our chairman , Paul Holmes, was contacted by Andy Deakin of Sheffield Wednesday on Thursday afternoon to see if we could assist our local sporting neighbours, Sheffield Speedway, with the use of the Wednesdayite Car park on this Sunday (22nd March 2015).

On finding out that the event was a benefit event for ex-rider , Ricky Ashworth, who suffered life changing injuries and brain damage in a speedway crash in August 2013, Paul agreed with Ian Hunter , of Sheffield Window Centre and Sheffield Speedway that we would charge £3 for each car with the full proceeds going to Ricky's fund.

It would be great if this offer was matched by the owner of the Owlerton stadium car park as well, giving the days car park takings and boosting the funds .

UPdtae this raised £384 towards Ricky's funds and many who parked there were grateful to be able to contribute in this way,

Wednesdayite came to the rescue of local junior football club earlier this  week and ensured the club could meet its fixtures this weekend.

On Wednesday 18th March The Star reported about the plight of  the club and Wednesdayite acted promtly to offer immediate assistance and ensure Mosborough Fc could play its fixtures this weekend.

Last  Saturday, Wednesdayite weclomed twenty guests associated with the Patrick O'Connell fund  the match against Middlesborough.

Prior to the match a plethora of signed shirts which have been donated by various clubs/players to the fund where presented on the pitch.

A couple of exWednesday players are on the back row!

Wednesdayite have agreed to donate £1,000 to the fund to enable work to start on his unmarked grave and give one of our own former players a suitable resting place.

And you could both help the fund and bag a unique signed item

First up was a squad signed Barcelona Shirt this raised £500 for the fund, then we had a signed Italiian shirt from Andrea Pirlowhucb raised £128

I knew something was kicking off on Tuesday when I got 20 missed calls from unknown numbers (the majority turned out to be press, following google searches of the numbers), I choose not to return these as I had no information, so for those of you who think we chase the press please think again.
