Wednesdayite helps out Sheffield Speedway Hero's Big day - Raising £384
Written by Paul HolmesWednesdayite will be helping out this Sunday by providing car park facilities to Speedway fans.
Our chairman , Paul Holmes, was contacted by Andy Deakin of Sheffield Wednesday on Thursday afternoon to see if we could assist our local sporting neighbours, Sheffield Speedway, with the use of the Wednesdayite Car park on this Sunday (22nd March 2015).
On finding out that the event was a benefit event for ex-rider , Ricky Ashworth, who suffered life changing injuries and brain damage in a speedway crash in August 2013, Paul agreed with Ian Hunter , of Sheffield Window Centre and Sheffield Speedway that we would charge £3 for each car with the full proceeds going to Ricky's fund.
It would be great if this offer was matched by the owner of the Owlerton stadium car park as well, giving the days car park takings and boosting the funds .
UPdtae this raised £384 towards Ricky's funds and many who parked there were grateful to be able to contribute in this way,
Wednesdayite came to the rescue of local junior football club earlier this week and ensured the club could meet its fixtures this weekend.
On Wednesday 18th March The Star reported about the plight of the club and Wednesdayite acted promtly to offer immediate assistance and ensure Mosborough Fc could play its fixtures this weekend.

FA Cup Dreams - It could be Sheffield Wednesday this season
Every fan, manager and player dreams of lifting The FA Cup – and a new initiative from The Football Association this season is providing a glimpse of what it would be like for Sheffield Wednesday to get their hands on the famous trophy.
In a bid to introduce a new generation of fans to the magic of the world’s oldest domestic football competition ahead of Sheffield Wednesday’s Fourth Round tie against Rochdale at Spotlands, The FA has released a short film showing a young Owls fan dreaming of winning The FA Cup at Wembley.
FA Cup 4th round - Away to Rochdale
The FA Cup fourth round draw took place at 2pm this afternoon.
The family theme for this season’s #FACup continued with Martin and Paul Allen making the Fourth Round draw
We were number 21 in the draw and we have been drawn to play Rochdale away should we be able to get past Macclesfield Town in the replay on Tuesday 14th Janaury following our 1-1 draw at Moss Rose yesterday
The full draw will be shown below (Ties to be played on the weekend of 25 and 26 January 2014)
In December we wrote to Milan about a number of matters that some of our members had expressed concerns about, our letter and Milan's response is shown below.
We urge you all to heed Milan's words in paragraph 6 of his response and continue to support the club and the team, together we are stonger.
Would you like to be like Jayne who is a Wednesdayite member who helps fellow Owls fan Trevor attend home games on a regular basis.
Jayne escorts Trevor to most games picking him up at home and sitting with him in the North stand before returning him home safely.
